Summer is just about over, school is back in session, and it’s time to get back to business!  Even though we took a break from having a chapter meeting in August, the HRACC Board and Committee Members continued to meet and make plans for programming and initiatives for the remainder of 2017.

There are three events scheduled for September.  All are currently posted on and are open for registration:

9/6/17 – Employment Connection Meeting
9/14/17 – Young Professionals End-of-Summer Happy Hour Mixer
9/28/17 – Annual Employment Law Update

Registration for both the HR Certification Program and SHRM-CP and SHRM-SCP Certification Exam Prep Course, in partnership with Central Connecticut State University is also open (

As HR professionals we are busy taking care of our employees and are often responsible for assisting employees and managers in developing professional development plans.  Now is good time to ask yourself, “Have I spent enough time (any time) this year on my own professional development?”

One way to ensure you are continuing with your own professional development is to fully utilize the benefits offered to you through your HRACC membership, such as:

  • Networking and sharing best practices

  • Developing leadership skills through participating on a committee or the Board

  • Learning and staying current on relevant HR topics by attending chapter meetings

  • Earning recertification credits for SHRM and HRCI

and many more benefits which are detailed on the HRACC website.  If you haven’t done so recently, take a few minutes to go to the website and check out what is new at HRACC!

If you have any questions or comments you would like to share, you can email me at

I look forward to seeing you at an upcoming event.
