Most companies don’t know what they don’t know when it comes to cyber security in their workplace. But, 60% of small companies are out of business within 6 months of a known breach (Symantec). The reason is that employees or the “human device” are the weakest link in the security chain. According to IBM, over 60% of recent hacking incidents occurred via their employees. No company could ever prevent all breaches from occurring but with education and training they can significantly reduce their risks while operating on-line. Additional security assessments can also strengthen your security posture. Any employee with access to Personal Identifiable Information (PII) and confidential customer data should be required on a yearly basis as a condition of employment to take a cyber security education program and receive a passing grade. The cyber security “threat landscape” is continuously changing and evolving. Ransomware, phishing, spear phishing and business email compromise incidents are almost everyday occurrences captured and reported in the media. There are both internal and external threats to the security of your business. Learn what the challenges are and how to increase the odds that proprietary information will remain safe.
