HRACC Employment Connection Committee

Employment Connection Refresh!

For the past decade, HRACC members have benefited from the advice and counsel of the world’s largest and most well-respected talent management organization, Lee Hecht Harrison. Under the leadership of Terry Montuori, LHH Senior Consultant, well over 400 members have gained expert career advice on how to market themselves, both in writing and in person, while gaining job leads and 1:1 career coaching. These services have been a benefit that has enabled many of our members-in-transition to find new positions.

While we want to continue to offer career support to our members, it’s time to refresh how we provide these services. Managing our careers is something we need to own every day - not just when we are told that our services are no longer needed. The great news is that Lee Hecht Harrison has agreed to remain our partner. HRACC members will have several opportunities to engage with career management thought leaders. We will gain access to tools and knowledge that will empower us to own and navigate our careers in a deliberate and proactive manner.

Time flies by so better to start today to proactively manage our career. We will have the option of benefiting from career management services targeted for all of us, regardless of our employment status. We will offer workshops, webinars and discussions for all members seeking support on enhancing their careers through purposeful branding, networking and development.

We launched our refreshed career support services with a members-only webinar in February with a focus on branding. This topic was of value to all of us as the discussion was targeted at our reputation. Better to manage our reputation ourselves than allow others to do it for us. Critical questions we need to consider include: How do we want to be viewed? Who do we want to know us in this manner? What can we do to deliberately and thoughtfully manage how we want others to know us? What can we do to influence our key stakeholders to know us in a way that sets us up for a new challenge or assignment?

Please be on the lookout for more exciting career management events such as a half day career management workshop and a “meet up” with our young professionals. We will share more information on how we can continue to offer resume review and just-in-time advice on tough career situations. Perhaps we can schedule these focused networking discussions before our chapter meetings.

An additional resource that HRACC members can still take advantage of is the  Career Center  on our website. Our interactive site features a robust job board where you can search and apply directly for jobs specific to the HR field, along with utilizing many tools available to job seekers.

You’ll find a range of articles on resume writing, interviewing, and social media presence. Members have the ability to post multiple resumes and cover letters, or choose an anonymous career profile that leads employers to you.

Job seekers can set up alerts to deliver the latest jobs right to your inbox, "ask the experts" advice, get resume writing tips or have your resume critiqued by a resume writing expert, utilize career assessment tools, and more. Visit the Career Center Resource Area by clicking HERE

We’re excited about our refreshed approach to helping you manage your career so you can continue to do your life’s best work! While these services will look and feel differently, it is our hope that in the end we will be able to provide more comprehensive services that support a broader audience. We aim to enhance our value to our members and hope that you are as enthusiastic as we are about these updated career services.
